"the rustle of the fall
sounding through those tiny feet
laughter crackling each time a leaf chips,
left me wondering...
...is it really fall?
because, my spring just arrived!"
This short poem is written for Write Tribe's Wednesday prompt (the photo above). I named it Joy because that's what this picture reminded me of. My daughter loves crackling dry leaves, and their rustling sound makes her gleam! That's my joy when her smiles and laughter brings spring in the season of fall (autumn)!
That was beautiful. Mothers find so much joy when they see their children happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. A new reader always brings smiles. Being a mother yourself, I know how well you understood the essence of my words.
ReplyDeleteJust visited your blog, loved the name absolutely. Will read a few posts, and leave footprints.
Lovely poem. I can just see your daughter hopping around stomping on the dried leaves.

DeleteThanks Kalpanaa. I believe poetry can be personal (as a vent out) but its success can also be measured by the fact that someone can relate to your words and feel the visuals. I am glad you can see all this! Thanks for visiting my little post.
This is lovely, Shaifali! Short and yet evoked so much emotion!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Corrine. I should in fact thank you for Write Tribe. I m going to stay with you, hopefully for long.
DeleteA heartwarming post on the prompt, loved its positive richness.
ReplyDeletePositive thoughts attract more positive thoughts! I have a calendar sitting on my desk which reads for today that a moment of smile quite possible brings the next moment of smile too!
DeleteI am happy my positivity and joy rubbed on you too. Thanks!
I still love to step on a dry leaf and the crackling sound is music to my ears and your little lovely poem reminded me the little pleasures of life. Indeed when one is happy its spring time.
ReplyDeleteKalpana, I am glad you resonate my emotions. Life's little moments are forgotten in the process of becoming an adult. Children take us back to their kingdom, and make us relive the countless precious moments again!
DeleteI wish you spring all the time! Thanks for the visit.
wow!! that was a beautiful poem.. loved it ..
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I am glad you found it lovely.
DeleteAwww that was so sweet. A smile on your child's face can truly light up your life. And I love to 'crackle' dry leaves too. So much fun it is.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Tulika. Yes, our childhood returns with cracking those dry leaves :-)
DeleteChildren mean the world.....and a positive reaction from them makes your day!
ReplyDeleteYes Michelle...they are the universe. Their innocence and smiles brighten up each day. Many a times, I only need to see my daughter's joy to become happy.

DeleteShafali, the little poem is so nostalgic! As small children we loved to walk on dry leaves and were thrilled bt the sound they created. My first visit to your site.
